Community Midwives

The Midwives work alongside your doctor in providing ante-natal and post-natal care and advice, both in the surgery and at your home. Normally the same midwife will see you at each appointment throughout your pregnancy.

Community Nurses

The Community Nursing Team is managed by the District Nursing Sister. She is a Registered Nurse who has undertaken further training in District Nursing and Community Health Subjects. The Community Staff Nurses are Registered Nurses who work under the supervision of the District Nurse. The Nursing Auxiliary is not a qualified Nurse but has received special training to assist the District Nurse. District nurses are able to refer you to other services such Marie Curie Cancer Care, Augmented Care, Twilight Nursing and are able to offer support and advice on various health matters. Please call 0300 323 0020 between 8am and 6pm (Monday to Friday) to speak to someone from the Community Nurse service.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are Registered General Nurses with a Diploma in Health Visiting. Health Visitors have specialist skills in working with families and young children. They have an important role within preventative medicine and are actively engaged in health promotion and health education in the local community.

The Health Visitors work from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
