Crewkerne, 29/01/2024 – In light of the recent measles outbreak, Crewkerne Health Centre is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the community by organizing special free vaccination clinics for children. These clinics will be held on February 19th and 26th starting at 18:30.
Measles is highly contagious, particularly among unvaccinated individuals, and can lead to severe illness, hospitalization, and in rare cases, fatalities. Vaccination remains the most effective defence against measles and is crucial in preventing outbreaks within our community.
“We urge all parents and guardians to ensure that their children are up to date with their 2 doses of the MMR vaccine,” stated Fiona Boundy, Lead Practice Nurse. “To check your child’s vaccination status, consult their personal child health record or contact your GP practice.”
It’s never too late to catch up on vaccinations. The MMR vaccine is provided free of charge by the NHS, regardless of age. If your child has missed one or both doses of the MMR vaccine, please contact your GP practice to schedule an appointment.
To book your child’s vaccination slot at Crewkerne Health Centre, please contact us at 01460 72435.
Crewkerne Health Centre remains committed to promoting the health and safety of our community, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of these vaccination clinics to protect themselves and others against measles.
